Archive for December, 2012

So another Christmas comes to an end, thats 53 of them I have under my belt. All in all a lovely peaceful day, quick visit to my daughters for coffee and giving out gifts. Our Son- in -law was quietly pleased with his tool kit complete with a spare drill that Hubby had – no more taking tools over whenever they need to do a job.

Christmas lunch was a bit of a bargain, £4.70 for 2 courses and a rather nice bottle of beer made into shandy. I got a Morrisons turkey leg – rather more ostrich looking than turkey. Took the thigh off, boned it, stuffed it and tied it up with string. Did 3 good portions, quesadilla’s for lunch today and fry up for tea – all for £1.50, I even impressed myself.

Started work on the bedroom today, a big bag of video’s ready to go to the tip to go with one from the tv cabinet downstairs. I also got a bag of bits and pieces to go too, not bad for 10/15 minutes work. Am going to do 15 minutes a few times a day until the task is complete.

Found out Flea bay is doing free listing this week so may have a quick look for a few dolls house bits and bobs and get those sold. ALl my dolls house stuff is Victorian but have decided lately that when i buil my house I am going to do a 1950’s house instead much more interesting I think.

Hubby managed to get some Ys milk and cream today in his quest to find me painkillers on Boxing day – well done that man – he went to a chemist in Fallowfield which has always been dependable for keeping odd hours. Apparently when a supermarket is open short hours they cannot open the pharmacy – strange rules they have to keep! Just shows we should not depend on them – in fact that is my resolution for 2013 ‘Avoid Supermarkets except to stock up on basics and snaffle ys’s’ Am using the local market much more now.DSCF0190

Here is a photo of my little pantry showing my mushy pea mountain all bought at 6p per tin. the blue box at the bottom left is full of custard  mixes, simmer soups and a few sauce mixes that we do use.DSCF0192

Top shelves with baby milk tins of flour, Hm pickles and various pulses.

And so I begin…..

…a new blog and a new path. I fully intend to spend the next year getting in control of things here.

1. Clear all clutter possible and return my bedroom to a place of quiet contemplation and hopefully sleep. Since my son returned home, due to no fault of his own my room has become a storage area with a space for my bed. Best laid plans etc.

2. Sell all possible things we no longer need or have no attachment to and keep the cash for emergencies. In November and December I made £400 pounds doing this, and £150 for Gareth.

3. Organise my craft supplies and finished projects ready for selling next Christmas.

4. Sort all my patterns into folders – have got folders and plastic pockets at the ready

5. Streamline my cooking/storage/shopping to maximise savings.

think thats a start, and I have bought a new notebook for ideas so that I do not keep magazines lying around.
